Problem 1: intermittent hesitant-start to no-start when warm.
Episodes can be separated by hours, weeks or months.

Troubleshooting: Pulled code 2113 (= Hall sender) during
warm, no start condition. (Hall sender tested good _statically_
and engine started ok, well a bit hesitantly actually, after
cool down.)

Problem 2: Hall sender is a non-repairable part of the distributor
which lists at $440. (Audi p/n 035 905 206 AF)

Solution: Rod @ The Parts Connection. Bosch p/n 0 237 522 011.
Cost $239. As a bonus, a new cap and rotor is included in the p/n.
The sealing o-ring is there too but not the $0.01 paper gasket.

Result: Snappy starts. Hits the first time every time. Until now, I
would have said the Hall sender, being a solid state device, can
be either bad or good or intermittently bad or good (due to some
internal continuity issue) but never sorta bad or sorta good.
Now I think "lazy Hall sender" can be added to the list of 101
reasons why an MC engine may start but poorly.
