I don't know if assembly in China would necessarily be a bad thing for
quality. I collect scale models, about 80% of which are made in China these
days. I rate their quality as top notch- Minichamps for instance offers
hand-built low volume quality for a mass-production price. Many hand-built
models have lost their raison d'etre as a result.

I guess it's all down to who does the quality control...
