Heat will probably work. You'd really have to overdo it to damage anything.
If you've got the correct tool, then go for it. Just clean the gunk out of
the hole so the tool goes in all the way. I stripped my tranny fill plug
once (with the wrong tool). I TIG welded a small piece of square steel into
the recess planning to put a wrench on it. However, after the heat of
welding, the plug was only finger tight!
Another lesson someone taught me: Always remove the fill plug first. Why?
If you drain the oil first, then accidentally strip the fill plug, you are
completely stuck 'cause you you've already drained the oil. If you get the
fill plug out first, then strip the drain, at least you can drive the car to
someone who can help you....
Just me .02.

Can I get some ideas on how to loosed the drain and filler plugs on 87
4000csq? I think they are torqued more than the 18ft. lbs required. I have
the 17 mm allen but am afraid to strip the the plug. Can i heat the plugs
with a torch first?
Thanks
DJ
