FYI for anyone with a low reading voltmeter, especially if you installed a
gauge not with the car when new, Check the ground wiring.
I swapped an 85 CGT dash into my URQ including the 3 gauge setup. The gauges
had always worked so I thought the wiring was sound. Recently I became
concerned that my oil pressure was low and the car was discharging when I ran
the heater blower.
Per excellent list advice, I grounded the gauges directly to the shifter
chassis mount. WOW. Oil pressure is where it should be, and the voltmeter is
back to normal and not affected by the heater. Since winter is upon us that
is _great_ peace of mind.
I love simple (cheap) solutions to problems that initially loom large. Thanks
everyone.
