Hi Audifans:
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the road. I have a question about seat
replacement. Mike, my Jack Russell, usually rides shotgun and the passenger
seat is starting to show it. I was remembering that you guys often find parts
at "junque" yards. But I also remember someone saying that they don't operate
in the same manner they used to. Anyway, I guess I'm asking is it usually
possible to find an A6 seat in ecru at a junk yard and if so, how big a deal
is it to replace the original with it?
There's a humungous place that I've passed, really gigantic - should I stop
in? Call?
Thanks in advance.
Also, I just had an issue with the exhaust. The doo-hicky that it hangs from
rotted. The rest of the system is perfect but because of one piece design,
mechanic said the entire system would have to be replaced. When he called
over to Audi they said that yes that was a mistake in design or something
like that and that there was a partial piece that was made to slide over
existing piece so the whole exhaust wouldn't have to be replaced. So he was
talking $400 instead of $1200. Lucky me Audi sent over the part for a non
quattro car and it didn't fit. So the mechanic decided to get ingenious and
fixed it anyway because he knew I needed the car to go to CT the next day.
Saved megabucks on this deal.....For a change.
