Left-field thought:
Several shops around here (Colo, USA) offer 1 or 2 free replacements if
their installed replacement cracks, but offer nothing for pitting.
With the sand used for traction in the winter here, most windshields turn
opaque in the sun from pitting after 2 years whether they crack or not.
I see thicker resisting cracking, but not pitting- therefore thicker may
not actually be better, becasue the cracked unit will be replaced for
free and the pitted unit won't?
