Radio Code

George,

I've not seen one that is inserted into the tape player. The unit I have is a 9 volt battery with an insert that fits into the cigarette lighter. I BELIEVE I got it from German Parts & Restoration (800/321-5432). When Sears replaced my battery for me recently, they had a similar (ableit larger) unit that plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Some time ago, I saw a device that preserved the radio coding if you disconnected the battery. You inserted it into the tape slot on the radio and as I recall it had perhaps a 9 volt battery attached to it.

I never did buy it, but would like to know. Has anyone seen this device for sale recently and has anyone every used it and did it work reasonable well.
I know I can call the dealer and get the code, but this seemed to be a nice alternative.
