Battery Explodes

It shouldn't be a problem.  I hope you have the proper
VENTED battery with the hose connected?  This vents
the nasties (hydrogen gas), "think Hindenberg" to the
outside.  This is the most common cause of failure
with the type 44.  People just use ANY battery that
fits.  And there are many.
