Bob-
I have a similar problem with my '91 200- it's gotten extremely
conservative in its fuel readings, triggering the low fuel warning
at about 1/4 tank under hard cornering and in regular driving with
a couple mm above the red reserve area- filled the car after it
complained
about being out of gas and got only 15.6 gallons in.
I'm nearly certain my problem lies in the printed circuit board- damn
instrument cluster boards are driving me nuts.
Bob Pastore has been more than helpful with my problems, at least my
temp gauge works properly, but the fuel thing is annoying and I'll have
to take it apart again. :-(
Maybe it would be wise for you to check yours as well.
BTW, when pulling the cluster, I've found that it really helps to use a
light cardboard to wedge between the cluster and various trim pieces-
prevents scratching and makes it easier to re-install the cluster. I
used
the cardboard inserts from some new bed sheets, to give you an idea of
the
thickness of cardboard- more like ultra-heavy paper.
