inspection failure due to exhaust noise???

It's the same trick we use on the Open Class S2 rally car. With an exhaust
system that starts at 3" and moves to 5" without any mufflers/cats at all
(essentailly straight pipe) we have a loud car. The fans love it, the
couple SCCA sound police hate it.
Insert steel wool with broom handle about 1.5 ft into the exhaust until
quiet. Then drive vary carefully into the sound check station. Pass
inspection. Drive very carefully a bit farther away. Blip throttle to
4500rpm blowing a ball of steel wool out your arse.
Fortunately with the new SCCA sound check rules for 2003 we might be able
to pass with some minimal modifications...

Yeah, thats essentially what I did do, though the fellow I have that does
my inspections hates the new law just as much as we do, and let me go even
in the 'loud' mode, making a reference to me saying to the cops that the
exhaust was put on post inspection, should I ever get pulled over ;)...
Speaking of which the 90tq isn't really that bad in terms of dB output. It
is louder than stock, granted, but not to the point where it is obnoxious.
The tubro, and the two "mufflers" I have in there tame it down to a
reasonable level, the stuffing is just a mute button for it ;).
