Ign. ECU's, Haltech comes through, Link sucks

Well after WAY to long my new chip for my Haltech
computer arrived yesterday. The history is, I found a
bug in the IG5 unit they sent me that ignored the air
temp map. After finally giving Force EFI a call and
begging for help, they gave me some contacts at
Haltech that were beyond the normal support guys.
Within a week and a half (from Austrailia) my chip
showed up, and everything is great now. Even though I
hated them for a few months, I have to give them
credit, the word is they had a death in the "Haltech"
family, and everything has been all f*#ked up for the
past few months.

The other story is I almost got my money back from
Haltech, and was looking into the Link computers. I
gave them a call because like, Ken I wanted to know
how flexible the trigger system was on it. Well the
guy on the other line couldn't understand why I would
care if the thing was triggered by a distributer
window, or the flywheel. When I said, have you seen
some of the slop in a timing belt and cam driven
distributer? He replied it doesn't matter. May be
I'm the retard here, but if I'm going to do direct
ignition, I sure as hell want it triggered off the
flywheel. He did say however they can have it
triggered Motronic style, but it sounded like a
permanent change in the code, so you can't change
trigger styles on the fly like the Haltech, which
easily does Motronic, and it's half the price.

Anyways, I was turned off by them and decided to ride
out the Haltech, which after some tuning last night is
really really nice. I was pushing 19 psi in the cool
air this morning no problem. Even though it will not
do direct ignition, I think I will still switch to a
flywheel trigger at some point just for gained
accuracy.

I can't wait to see what this thing can do with water
injection! It goes in on Sunday, hopefully.

Later,

=====
