Roadtrip Experience (longish)

Just recently got home from a 2.5 weeks, 2000 mi long road trip through
the Rockies. We drove the 88 5k tq with a chipped ECU and 1.8 bar
wastegate spring.

The car performed very well. I had never had any power shortage and I
enjoyed shifting back to the mid 3k RPM range and blast by slower
vehicles on steep extended uphill drives. Before the trip I had the
"cat" taken out of the car as it is not mandatory here in Alberta. It
noticeably helped the engine breath better and also lowered the engine
rev for usable boost. I can start feeling it at around 2800 RPM, but it
still really sticks one in the seat only at 3200.

At this point I had no other modifications to the car, but I already
have the new H&R springs and Koni sport (yellow) struts in the garage
waiting to be installed. I wish I had them on this trip as at highway
speed on the curvy mountain road the car rolled quite a bit. Also, I
can't wait to get my front rotors changed as they were unpleasantly
vibrated at the slightest touch of the brakes. I am going to get a set
of Brembo disks along with KVR carbon fibre pads.

The trip started from Calgary, AB to the Okanagan Valley, down to the US
border to rattlesnake country -- Osoyoos, then taking the scenic hwy. 3
to Vancouver, BC, via ferry to Victoria then up north to Tofino -- the
surfing capital of Canada. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to
describe the trip in more detail.

Hope you don't mind for wasting bandwidth.
Cheers,
  Zsolt
