84 Urq model year question

The '84 urq dash is very similar to the later quattro and 4kq. However the
'84 dash is unique with many subtle differences including texture, color and
switches.

My question is: Were the later dashes a late 84 model year addition, or was
the entire interior of this car redone to later specs?
