Vacuum Unit noisy

You can usually quite down a noisy vacuum pump by pulling it off, cleaning
it out with solvent, and lubricating the shaft (a few drops of synthetic oil
helps). The 4kq we bought back in early spring sat a lot of the time for
four years prior and the vacuum pump made a terrible racket. Changing the
oil didn't help like it normally has for me on other 4kqs in the past.
Pulling the pump (easy to do), cleaning it out, and relubricating the shaft
has silenced it for a while now. HTH
