I sent out this original message a few days ago and the general concensus
was to stick with 205/55/16 or even go to 195/65/15. I am aware that wider
tires are generally better in the snow - especialy deeper powder.

Here in Southeastern PA, our winters generally only bring a few significant
snows all season if that - especially in recent years, so dry weather
stability is a concern.

The long and the short of it is that I bought the 215's. They are in great
shape (10/32" tread left), are mounted and the price was right. In
addition, a check of the tire specs on Tire Rack's site showed that the
actual tread width of the 215's is the same as the 205's.

Even though I ignored the advice of most of those who offered it, I
appreciate the help. Yeah, I know - I've been warned! :-)
I'll post an update this winter for those who are interested.

On a related note, I seem to have a very nice set of OEM 16 inch 7 spoke
sport wheels that I don't plan to use. Anyone out there who is interested
in buying them, shoot me an e-mail.
