fuel distributor pre-delivery screen/filter?

No. That's a debris screen, goes in with the dome UP. Don't ask how I
know! The screen in question is in the inlet pipe (arrow pointing in to the
FD), and is inside a hollow bolt with a mushroom head, rather than a flat
one. Prys out with a little effort and a small screwdriver. The tech doing
the 1000 mile service was supposed to replace the bolt with a plain head one
w/o the screen. Saved 30 sec. and the dealership saved Audi the price of
the bolt. (Like they told Audi!). John

Funny you should mention this now as today I stopped at a boneyard on the
way
home and while walking by a VW GTI I noticed the air horn had a domed screen
sitting on it. I had never seen this before and thought how unusual it was.
Curious to know if that was the aforementioned "shipping" screen.
