Oil Warning Lamp at 2k rpm's

Check to see if your car has the dynamic oil pressure system ... I know
newer cars have it, but not sure about '84.

If you trust your gauge you should know that you have nothing to worry about
... the controller for the dynamic oil pressure system is a pretty common
failure. Given that you have the gauge and you check it regularly you may
want to simply consider removing the controller. Check your wiring diagram
to be sure, but on every Audi I've checked the module wires in parallel to
the low pressure switch, so by removing the control module you will still
have a system that lights the lamp if there is a serious loss of pressure
... just like 90% of the other cars on the road ...

Now that I finally had a chance to test drive my '84 CGT I found a problem.
As soon as I hit 2k rpms on the tach the oil warning lamp comes on and then
goes back off when the rpm's drop. Several theories abound, from a clogged
pickup screen to a faulty sensor. Any known problems in this area. I would
just like a way to narrow the problem before I go dropping the oil pan and
my brand new 20W50. Also I have a factory analog oil pressure gauge in my
console and it is pegged at 5 bar anywhere off idle. TIA for any help.
