Fellow Audi Fans,
Here's how it began:
1) '88 90Q has needed new radiator for last couple of weeks
2) Husband wants radiator fast (good intentioned)
3) Orders plastic radiator from no name place even though he really wants
a metal radiator
4) Radiator arrives Tuesday
5) Takes radiator out of box and inspects, matching it to another radiator
lying in back yard (Don't ask)
6) radiator matches (Yay!)
7) Thursday: Remove old radiator in just over an hour
8) Wife says, "That was too easy-what's going to go wrong?"
9) Husband takes radiator out of box again and prepares to install
10) Husband says, "It's got a <bleep> crack in it!"
11) Wife says, "I'll call Enterprise."
Now, here's the embarassing part: Only rental car Enterprise has is a Ford
Escort. Wife considers shooting self and/or walking the 30 mile commute to
the University of Iowa for exam on Friday. Crap, can't do that. Wife
drives Escort, cursing every creak, and every rock in the road that feels
like you're in a sled skidding down a rocky hill. Turning a corner (a bit
sharply) wheels don't grab the pavement-Wow, I really miss the Quattro!!!!!
Next:
Husband finds metal radiator at (of all places) the same place we order
almost ALL of our Audi parts:
www.jagworks.com
Nissens metal radiator: I believe is was $254 and the $54.00 was for next
day shipping. It is now in the car and I hope not to have the pleasure of
another "Escort" to the University for the next 3 years.
Thanks for listening/reading,
Bill/Christina Tryon
