'85 3B coupe quattro IC options?

With my urQ that is getting a AAN 20VT engine, I am sort of thinking
something similar to this

he actually extended the front core support about 2" We have done some
research and I think that an intercooler will fit behind the grill
without a whole lot of problems.

Javad also has a front mount intercooler, thought it is on an 80, the
engine compartment and front end is not the much different.

I think with the correct intercooler core the stock grill could even be
used with very little modification.

Mounting any IC that's really worth a sh*t is going to
be difficult. I personally like Marc Swanson's Isuzu
NPR IC that he put into his 4ktq. I know back when
Gary K. had his 4ktq, he had a 944 IC like mine in
there. You may also be able to squeeze in a Volvo IC
like Nate did on his 90q. I think any of these are
good upgrades from the Audi units. If you don't want
to buy a new bumper cover, than usually something has
to be redesigned. It's usually the front crossmember,
or the aluminum in the bumper itself that's in the
way. I was at the local s-cars gathering this
morning, they had some really nice custom
intercoolers. Hap's ur-s4 had a huge Garrett unit
"hidden" behind the lower grill. He fit it by cutting
all the little braces that are behind the lower grill, extending them
downwards, forcing the bottom lip of the bumper lower, and making custom
grill. It was pretty damn cool, I'd like to something similar on my car
to hide the IC so it's not hanging out the bottom. As far as the oil
cooler goes, put it up top where the auxillary radiators are on the
90's, and maybe your car? Well, that's all I have for now.

Later,
