Yeah, that's what I've come up against - it looks like most of the close
equivalents to pentosin have a lower temp range
.  I have some other routes to investigate too because logging is a major
industry around here and there are huge pieces of equipment out in the bush
at well below -40 C that have miles of hydraulics.  Someone must have
something!
