There is a good chance that you will never in your life be able to get the outer &(@  CV off the !^&# shaft.

Either pull the shaft (mega hub bolt (stretch, _should_ be replaced) and six trip skware) and do it on a bench (vise) or remove the inner end (six trips) and do it on the car, either via removing the INNER CV joint and sliding the new outer boot along the entire shaft.
