That's the tool I use. I think I got mine at Harbor Freight. I guess there's a lot of stuff that can be used on Audis from there.
It even comes in handy when used upside down, with a nut or something between the pointy bolt thing and the bottom of the tie rod (which can be like a sheet metal grease cap), for use when the nut spings the post in the tie rod tightening. I have used it in this way to put enough pressure against the smooth post and the strut housing to get the nut started and tightened.
It really is a perfect tool for removing the tie rod from the strut housing arm. No pickle fork action.
However, is this difficult thing people are talking about removing the actual tie rod end from the tie rod?
I have such little trouble separating it from the arm using the tool that I almost think they are referring to the end from the rod.

There is a tool available for about $10-30 that might as well have been
made for removing Audi quattro tie rod ends. It is called a pitman arm
puller, and is perfect for removing tie rod ends on 4kq,5kq, 200q,80q, and
probably most other Audi quattro's. I have a no name one, but it looks
similar to this one, and you can get them at almost any tool store. Always
works, and I have Minnesota salty road cars.

This is the right tool for removing audi tie rod ends, no more ripped
grease boots, or damaging the strut housings.>>
