Ewan, I'm not positive about this, but it sounds like you might have more
than a seal problem, your housing could have been tweeked - in which case, no
seal will help.  With the pump off the car and dissasembled ensure that both
halves of the housing are still true, other wise it might be worth just
getting a good used one and being done with it.
