Folks: Alex Christensen is a colleague of mine with a 1990 90Q that has
a
vexing problem with its climate control unit. The 90Q is Alex's daily
driver. (He is a true gear head with a BMW 2002 tii that he takes to the
track.)

IS there any BTDT that you can share with us ? Thanks.

BTW: I just arrived in Chicago after a 2.5 day 2500 mile drive from
Portland
in the 1989 200 quattro I bought from Scott. It is a great car, and I
have
for the first time in the 10 years that I have owned type 44 cars, come
to
realize how great these cars can be when the suspension is properly set
up.
Now I have to make my 1990 200 TQW handle as well as Scott's car.

Thanks.

Chander

Chander, Thanks for your offer to help. Briefly, Dwayne has said that
he
has a much better chance at solving my AC problem if he has can
interpret
the codes from the climate control unit. The CC unit on my car is
unique
and the codes are hard to come by (older car, limited production
numbers).
Here is the question I would ask:

My 1990 90Q 20V A/C blows hot air and my Audi mechanic tells me he needs
the
code definitions for the climate control brain. He says this model is
unique in having 15 outputs instead of the usual 5 outputs for this era
of
Audi. If he can define the error codes, he has a chance to get cold
air.
Does anyone have these codes? The compressor does engage for a few
seconds
and some cool air is felt. This is a "short cycle" problem. The HI and
LOW
pressure switches have been checked. The A/C has not worked since a
rebuilt
compressor was installed and converted to R-134a. Compressor was
changed
due to leak in original compressor.

thanks, Alex
