HP Valve Springs breaking?

I did ask my mechanic if they could have been installed wrong and he said that
they could but the car would not run very well and my car ran great for
several months.  Also the broken valve springs were only on the exhaust
valves, which he says will break first if the valve springs were not hardened
right during the manufacturing processe, since they are exposed to the higher
temp from the exhaust gasses vs. the intake valve springs.
