This reminds me of a product film we studied. It was for a product that
has become highly popular. A "no-spill" cup for small kids. The film was
all about the design process through manufacturing process of this
idea.......While the film was well done, and the product has done well
too, I just keep thinking to myself.........Do we really want a bunch of
7 year old kids running around that still haven't developed the skills
to hold a glass of liquid upright?
Far too often we tend to focus on the short term solution, giving no
thought at all to long term effects. In this case: Short term, your
carpets are clean. Long term, your kids lack basic motor skills.
