87.5 CGT: cruise control rod & throttle body

The patient is my 87.5 CGT. When I got her, she was in sad shape and I've finally gotten her stabilized. But I'm totally confused on one thing now. When I got her, there was no rod connecting the cruise control vacuum bellow to the throttle body. I have tried sever rods off various cars (90 w/ NG, other CGTs, ect) and none of them fit right (were too long). Finally, I heard that Force5 had an 87.5 CGT that they were parting out. Eureka I thought! I got the cruise control rod sent to me (along with other misc. goodies). Well...guess what? It doesn't seem to be right either! Argh! The cruise control rod I got has a squared off end with a hole in it, as if you were supposed to slip it over a post or put a bolt through it. But the connection on the throttle body has one of those ball shaped tips (like a ball/socket joint).

What's going on here? I know my CGT had a rough life before I got her, so I'm wondering, do I still have the wrong rod or could it possibly be that the PO replaced the throttle body with the wrong one? Like one with the wrong style cruise control connector? Possibly one from a non-NG powered CGT? There was a HUGE box of spare parts that came with the car, and they were obviously from a non-NG powered CGT.

So, can you 87.5 CGT owners do me a favor? Look at your cruise control rod and throttle body. Check how they connect and see if it is a ball/socket setup or is it a hole in the rod and bolt? bAlso how can I identify whether my girl has the correct throttlebody on her? This is SO frustrating! Sorry for the long length...
