Dealer oil filters OEM

I was just at a VW/Audi dealership to pick up a case of MANN oil filters and
the new parts guy asked why i want MANN and not OEM filters.  He said they
are the same filter.  I said i doubt it so he brought me one of each and
guess what NOT!  OEM filter didnt have an anti-drainback valve and the MANN
did.  He was shocked but said nobody buys MANN anymore from them.  And all
new cars use the OEM filter during routine maintance.  I was surprised by the
differences in filters.  But i have noticed a huge difference every since i
starting using MANN with the a-d valve, the lifters are just noticable at
startup but go away immediately.  With a regular filter the clicking starts
driving me nuts and hardly goes away.
