Recharged Bomb (AKA Brake Pressure Accumulator) - Failure

Sorry, I'm not intimately familiar with the procedure. The reason I
asked is I visited a private 'Audis Only' shop in Ontario. Zoltan, the
owner, had rebuilt a few of these bombs, and part of the procedure,
after testing that it was not leaking, was to install a valve in it so
it could be charged. Logically, if the valve can be used once, it can be
used again. I'm assuming that the charge leaked out slowly over time,
and a simple recharge of Nitrogen would give the bomb a third life just
with the recharge at a significantly reduced cost. Conceivably one could
get a spare bomb from the wreckers and have it recharged and sitting on
the shelf waiting until you need it. One might even get pretty
proficient at installing the bomb ;-) BTW Zoltan had printed out a
procedure that he must have found in the archives (originally prepared
by Russ?).
