Pulling codes, 88 90

if it is like my '89, I just tried this out for the first time a few
weeks ago.

Turn the key on (no need to run engine though).  insert a 10A fuse in
the fuel pump relay (in the fuse box) for a few seconds.  remove it.
jump back into the car and look at the check engine light.  It will
start flashing any codes (or 4-4-4-4 if there are none).

I think if you ignite a code while driving, you have to do this code
pulling sequence before turning the engine off.
