It's all in your head... :)  The Passat has basically the same
underpinnings as the B5-A4 so think of it as a stretched A4 Avant
with a unique 278hp engine.  It's even got the same Audi quattro IV
AWD.  So what if there is a VW logo on the nose instead of the rings.
Like all A6 3.0 Avants, the Passat comes in Tiptronic only.  The A6 2.7T
and the allroad 2.7T are both available with 6-sp manual.

OK, the interior is not *quite* as stylish as an Audi, but it's still
pretty nice.  BTW the Passat is exactly halfway between the A4 and the
A6 in length, so you do lose some room compared to an A6.

Go drive it and see how you like it.
