On my 87 4kq 016 Transmission
With the inner cam dot lined up with the upper edge of the valve cover gasket
and the crank flywheel "0" mark lined up in the center window at the angled
clutch piece in the window. That leaves the "I" mark for the ignition timing
which is the 6 degree BTDC line? So with a timing light (i have an old one
with no readout) and the engine idleling at operating temp. Do you rotate
the distributor so the "I" mark is where the "0" is when the cam and crank
are lined up. Otherwise the "I" mark is at the top of flywheel window and
the "0" is in the middle of window. If what i stated is correct, then if i
set it that way there is cold acceleration start problems but if i set is so
the "I" mark is at the top of window (that means O degrees BTDC i assume) i
have great power and good cold start, cold acceleration performace.
Whew i'm winded. I hope thats clear enough if not let me know.
TIA,
DJ
