That will probably work.  The only two potential problems that I can foresee
would be making sure that you de-sod (is that a word?!) the trench when you
dig it and protect the sod after you put it back to prevent washout, and
making sure that there won't be any drainage from the high end to the low
end through the PVC pipe.

Just remember to not leave the hose pressurized, or to shut off the
compressor between uses.  That way if you get a leak, the compressor won't
run until doomsday.
