Why is there fuel in my air box?

I believe on these cars (like my 85 Coupe GT) there
was a small hose that went from the CIS differential
fuel regulator to the airbox. This was designed so
that if the regulator failed and leaked, it would leak
into the airbox, keeping fuel away from the exhaust
manifold. This could be your problem.
