don't you remember where audi in the usa was virtually dead, like the parrot
in the monty python sketch - just waiting for someone to take it away? where
every vaguely positive review was seized upon by this list as proof that the
thing wasn't nailed to the perch, but was actually just comatose?
now i read the may "car and driver" magazine, and find that they chose the rs6
over the m5 and new e55 saying that the rs6 "inspires confidence that goes
beyond its rivals - an endearing trait in this category".
i read on and find that in the comparison between the m3, the c32 and the new
s4, that the s4 wins. "the quattro's stern discipline keeps redistributing the
driving torque allowing you to get the throttle open early, yet cling confidently
to your intended line. This is a car that will work with you! few sporting cars
are this open in their communication, so disinclined to mischief. of this trio,
the s4 is in a class by itself, scoring the full 10 points in our handling rating,
two above the m3 and three above the c32. it also earned a 10 in fun to drive,
decisively above the others"...
here we have these "break-through" reviews in the usa, and it hardly raises
comment.
audi has come this far in 8 years.
