very high idle!

Did you check the throttle position sensor? It seems to be a common
high idle culprit. Test that and the WOT sensor and see if either of
these measure wrong. The Bentley has a good guide on this..A little
more detailed then is needed, but oh well.
My 2 Cents,

Hey guys,
I have an '86 5ktq that developed a scary idle problem yesterday. I
had just
topped up the gas and was merging onto the interstate. Of course, I
went
through the gears pretty hard. When I hit fifth it seemed to pull weird
when I
let out the clutch (like I didn't let off the gas) . Pushed in the
clutch and
idle was at 3500! I babied it to work and checked what I could when I
got
there. Throttle cable seemed free. Didn't see any obvious blown hoses
(maybe I
didn't look at the right ones tho). The car idles that way hot or cold.
The PO
disconnected the idle relay, but the car had idled fine for the 2 years
I've
had the car. I don't even feel comfortable driving the car that
way...would this
have anything to do with that unintended acceleration BS? Thanks for
the help!
Jason
