NAC: Cyprus

Folks,
sorry for spamming the list with a NAC content.
I need to be in Cyprus on biz from 2 May 2003 through 9 May 2003. It is
sort of a last minute arrangement (not my choice), thus w/o the benefit
of a 20 days advance purchase the airfares seem to be rather pricey.
What is the best way to get over there? As I have just found out there
is no direct air communication between the US and Cyprus.
Ideally I need to get from PHL to PFO. But of course I can't be too
picky, thus any outbound airport (JFK, LGA, EWR) and any destination
airport (PFO, LCA) will do. I don't care where to make a layover, any
European city is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Expedia and
Travolocity want anywhere from $1.5k to $3k, and that for a 3 leg flight
none the less. This is nutz.
So far my agent has found a roundtrip for ~$700. I am looking at leaving
PHL on 1 May at 21:35, arriving at LHR the next morning at 09:40,
leaving LHR at 20:15 and arriving at LCA on 3 May at 02:50. And I still
need to get to Paphos somehow. I don't mind a day of sightseeing in
London. I love that city. But a three-day-long trip... That's a bit too
much.

Pantelis, my friend, are you still on the list? You ought to know
something :) I could use any advice you can spare.
