Timing Belt off a tooth ??

I know, I know, it has been beat to death, but.........

I did my T-Belt this weekend successfully, I think. The only thing that bugs
me is the fact that the tool supplied by Blaufergnugen to lock the crank in
place allowed a couple degrees of rotation (Slop). I did the best I could to
return it to tdc, but fear I may be off a tooth. The car starts and drives
fine, and have no reason other than the slop in the tool to believe any
thing is /could be wrong. what are the symptoms of being off one tooth ???
How can I verify all is well ??

Also the man said to tighten the belt so it could be rotated (Axially) 1/2
turn. My problem with that is Arnold Schwarzenager and Pe-Wee Herman would
get radically different amounts of axial rotation form the same belt. Any
advice here ??

Thanks !
