Well, had my first trackday experience on Saturday, only as a passenger
though, my friend was taking part in his mitsi evo vi, in the beginner
class. In his session were several cateram's and westfields. A mk1 ford
escort, apparently putting out 220bhp, a Porsche 993, a mk1 golf gti 1600
(the owner told me he races it in group1 historic touring car), a few
Porsche 924/944's and a early 90's bmw M3. all cars, apart from the 924 were
of similar pace around the track (Goodwood). Every session my friend
overtook 3-4 cars, a session being approximately 15 mins. And towards the
end of every session would be catching up with the 993, but never had the
opportunity to pass it. The evo handled the course like it was out for a
peaceful Sunday drive, while me as passenger, found myself grabbing hold at
certain points on the circuit to prevent myself ending up in the drivers
seat!!!!
A very enjoyable day, I shall be frequenting Goodwood at further times
during the year as I live within 20 mins of it, although I do not think I
will be putting my 90q on the track at anypoint this year. Scarily enough
the golf proved to be very fast around the circuit, being able to carry very
high corner speeds.
