LUKE,
Listen Very Carefully. I know the KH ECU is a pain to hook up
the Self Diag. System for, but do it. On my KH I used the
Seatbelt light as the check engine light as it has wires
stickign out to tap into instead of being driven wholly off the
circuit board. Then for the RPM signal I just plug in my
Multimeter on the RPM function. IT doesn't really matter if the
RPM reads correctly or not. As long as you get a reading. Turn
ignition on and start the sequence and find what RPM or
frequency you MM reads. Now the book says that the KH unit
shoudl read 7,000 RPM. Mine MM read like 3,000 RPM or
something. But when I hit the brake and went to the first fault
code it dropped to like 400 RPM. Hmm, that would be like a
1,000 RPM reading on the factory KH gauge. So I had a fault,
lookign at the manual it had to be one of two things. TDC or
RPM sender. So I tested both. They were fine. So I checked
continuity from the connector to the ECU. Hmm, intermittent.
Turns out the ground wire at the connector was deteriorated
where it connects to the coax shielding. So I rewired it and
now its great.
Anyhow, I would Highly recommend getting that self check
system workign. It took me an hour or two to get it workign but
saved me many more in troubleshooting.
Good Luck
