I recently had the rear bumpers for my Mercedes replated at International
Plating in Providence. Although the face surface work was superb, they also
plated the brackets and bolts. They refused to remove the chrome and the woman I
dealt with left me little choice except to punch her in the face, or leave. I
took the sensible alternative. My problem now is locating a plater who can
remove the chrome (the brackets are $100.00 a piece, if they can be found). Can
anyone suggest another method of easily removing it? I spoke with an industrial
chrome plater and found that they have nothing that will activate the nickel as
it is not used in industrial plating. I am told that sand blasting would be a
lengthy process. Any suggestions?
