I don't think it would be enough to worry about, it's
not like you're moving it too the other side of the
flywheel, you're just moving it over a little.

I'd find you're real TDC mark, try and get the dist
lined up so it will fire, and use a timing light to
see exactly what you're dealing with.

If you can't move the pin, maybe you can mod the
distributer to work by pulling of the window wheel and
re-position ing it 25 degree's so that the timing will
be back to about where it should be.

It should work, but sitting here looking at my dist
says it will be an interesting job. Ok, here's what I
would do to fix this. Get two window wheels, cut the
windows off one, and the center bushing off the other.
Overlay the window wheel without the bushing onto the
one without the windows. Follow me? Now you can get
the window right where you need it with a couple of
small sheetmetal screw. If it's off, drill some new
holes and try it again. When you get it where you
want, just put a few tack welds on it, and mark that
distributer as NFG. Don't breath the vapors because of
the zinc coating, it's bad stuff.

Wait, that was looking at my CIS-e dist that has a
circlip hoding on the wheel, the MC looks like it's
just pressed on, so you may be able to just turn it.
You'll need a BFH and a punch to get that gear pin
out. If you can't turn it, I'd still do the above.

I'm just thinking of ways to avoid putting another pin
in until you can do it the right way. I've stared at
my car for hrs trying to figure out the best way to do
it, and even through the starter hole looks like a
real pain. I'd just make sure you're new pin is good
to go before you lob off the old one if this is the
route you go.
