what about MAACO IF I do all the prep work

I dont disagree that they use cheap paint and that their paint
jobs are cheap. I am personally opting to spend a few hundered
more and have it sprayed at a real body shop. BUT, I know many
people that have Maaco Jobs and are very happy with them. The
difference is that every one of them did ALL prep work
themselves. If you ask around you can find a Maaco shop with a
highly qualified painter. They lay paint down all day. They
are very good at it. And you can spec a higher quality paint.
But dont trust them with the taping and paint work.
BTW...their "ENTRY" paint job is actually $299. And it still
includes a sanding but only a light sanding and degreasing.
Just a VERY VERY cheap paint. THe $399 gets you a cheap paint
with an integrated clear coat. ANd $599 gets you a cheap
2-stage paint. Still all cheap though. :-)
It really depends on what you want. FOr a Track car, Race
Car, etc they do a find job if you prep the car. IF you want a
concourse show car or a daily driver for the next 5 years then
your better off spendign some extra on better paint. Or a LOT
extra if you want that "concourse show car" in which case you'd
get slapped for lookign at Maaco. :-)
