When they resurface it, it will be lightened a little, depending on how
badly your flywheel is grooved.  As to the effects of lightening, it makes
acceleration easier (quicker) but holding the car at a steady speed on the
freeway will be more difficult (less flywheel effect holding engine speed
steady.)  Basically the car will become more sensitive to the throttle.  So
if out and out acceleration is your goal, have it lightened.  If easy
freeway cruising is more important, don't.
