Thanks Huw, Brett and Bernard for your responses.  I'm going to get that
leak fixed right away.
I've decided that I don't need to 5ktq's so the 86 sedan is becoming a parts
car as the 88 avant is in much better shape.  If I can, I'll take the
proportioning valve from the sedan and put it in the avant (after a thorough
cleaning, of course). Oh yeah, I will be having a chat with the
monkeylads....

Bernard, your comments got me to thinking that maybe the valve is redundant
anyway, because wouldn't the abs system take care of any wheel lock up under
the circumstances you describe?
