Well, sorta true.  Dealers with whom I've dealt insist on a copy of the
registration and a valid driver's license.  This has held true for BMW, MB,
Porsche, and VAG dealers.  They cite manufacturer's policy, but I suspect it
may be somewhere in the law as well.  They are adamant about it as well.  No
IDs, no key.  Same holds true for keyed alike locks from the mfrs.  John
