Just "spoke" with him (he's in Korea right now):

"The database daemon has been acting up lately - of course, exactly on
the day I leave for Korea.  Also note that since it's the sql database
that's horked, the registry might be broken as well."

Unless it's an easy fix, he probably won't get to it til next Sunday.

He offered profuse apologies, but I said to hang on to them, since he's
working for free...

Panic is unnecessary.  It probably was *not* due to international terrorism.
