In Europe, the type 44 Audi 100 was introduced in October of 1982 and the
Forschungswagen (a proto of a super-aerodynamic car which looks remarkably
similar to the 44) predated that. But I agree, it's probably more
coincidence than plagiarism. I've seen more cars appear at the same time
with remarkable styling similarities.
