rebuilding shifter on 88 90Q

My comments are based on my 88 5kq.
Two areas to look at:
1. Take the shifter mechanism apart . . the part in the console. Look it
over for worn, broken nylon parts. Lube and reassemble.
2. Worn bushings in the connecting rod. This rod is located on top of the
transmission. Bit tricky to get at.

I did a write up on the process. Look in the archives for the thread under
"Manual shifter mystery" . .mid July 03
The connecting rod is P/N 431 711 429 B . . . keep in mind that this is for
the 5k.

I was able to get just the nylon bushings for the connecting rod from my
local Audi Parts guy. Dont know where he got them.

I just took a peek at your model in the FA. You have a different setup. I
dont see a connecting rod.
Maybe all the action is in that ball socket at the bottom of the shifter.
