Torque question

And what of the joint in the middle, about which the torque is being 
applied, and exhibits motion between the two tools?

What is really needed here, of course, is less of us playing armchair 
physicist, and someone actually performing a simple expleriment or two.

Which, at the rate this discussion is escalating, I may be moved to do 
myself by this weekend... if I have stuff lying around I can perform the 
tests with.
